During the weekend I started getting models and photoshoots ready for my magazine. All of the following pictures are originally taken by me. At the Miami Selfie Museum located in Wynwood, Miami Florida.
Uptown Teen
For the creation of Uptown teen, I will be using the website Canva.com which provides templates and resources to create the magazine provided by AICE MEDIA STUDIES Teacher. In Canva today I have been looking at templates where I can get ideas from to create my version for my magazine.

Front Covers
As said previously within my last blog posts Front covers is what attracts the audience. The picture, the font, the words and the segments that are going to be discussed all are placed on the front page. According to Famous Magazines around the world there are "10 golden rules" that they follow to have a perfect cover.
According to Flipsnackblog.com, they asked and showed us what these rules where.
"1. Put the magazine name in the most obvious Place"
"2. Be consistent in your template for your magazine"
"3. Work with a Grid"
"4. Decide on a focus Point and build around it."
"5. Play with Font styles."
"6. Emphasize powerful words."
"7. Infuse your magazine design with a healthy dose of color and contrast."
"8. Place a portrait on the Cover"
"9. Avoid busy backgrounds."
"10. Go for illustrations."
I will be incorporating these elements in Uptown Teen Magazine Front Cover drafts and final product.
Fashion Magazine
Today I conducted more research on Fashion Magazines, they include pictures of not your everyday designs on clothing and incorporating it on a theme photoshoot concerning the clothing item being worn.
Before conducting this research I believed that fashion magazines only included the model and the clothing, but its so much more to that. Location, and props play an important part of the magazine pictures especially on the front cover to attract the audience.
For example, below is a picture of Vogue Magazine with Kendall Jenner as the front page cover but she is accompanied by a White Cockatoo.
Magazine Research
Today I've conducted a research on which magazines and how it should flow within the two page spread.
According to the research I've done within multiple websites the most common and popular topics within magazines are Celebrities, Fashion, Makeovers and Health. With this information I have come to a decision of creating a Fashion Magazine as it is one of the most popular votes.
Fashion Magazines consists of the latest trends of each season and what you should be getting to fit in these trends. Such magazines Include Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, and Allure, to name a few.

About Me
Hello, My name is Katherine and I am a Senior AICE Cambridge student. I am looking forward to study Graphic Design and Photography, a reason being why I am excited about this coarse because I get to practice and learn skills that will tie into the profession of my choice. I love Art, design, music, photography...I lean into the creative genre. I used to be in my highschool's Marching Band and symphonic band. I learned to play the flute there and picked up piano and Saxophone after leaving band. I always draw in my free time, it's a form of disconnecting from everything around me, its calming as well as photography. Taking pictures of things that aren't common like the things you see everyday such as models, and clothing. I like to go beyond that and get a different angle on everything.
In the future, once I graduate from a university, I would have my own studio where I can sell my services in Graphic Design and in Photography to the public and with time even grow more/
Syllabus Reflection
I am looking forward to learn new abilities while taking this course such as production in technology and contexts, engaging in local and global media texts and knowing the true impact that media has and the influence it has on society as a whole. Although I am also nervous to an extent such as the Media Texts and Context portion of the test. Reason being that I need to be well informed on the types of shots, scenes, camera angles of the clip to be able to understand why the director went for the specific type of view for the scene.
I personally feel like for this course you need to think outside the box, really be creative and go into what people want to see, what type of magazine does the majority want to read and buy. The typical up close portrait picture of a model? Or a themed photoshoot with a purpose? Things to take into consideration and to include while making the survey for people to take to see what the majority would like to read.

My name is Katherine and this is my Aice Media Studies Blog. I will be creating a four page magazine with a front cover, content page and a double page spread. I will be working independently but will be having feedback such as reviews and opinions from fellow classmates on this project.
